Utah Youth Rugby ("UYR") is the USA Rugby ("USAR") sanctioned State Rugby Organization in Utah. UYR is a youth rugby member club organization organized as a non-profit under the laws of the State of Utah. Youth Rugby Clubs join UYR annually and enter teams into leagues for youth players in Grades K through 12 organized by UYR. As such UYR sets various rules and policies to govern the leagues and to ensure that clubs, teams and players are in compliance with any USAR rules and policies.
Youth players join Youth Rugby Clubs and are therefore subject to any club membership rules and requirements imposed upon players by that club. It is in the best interests of the member clubs of UYR and players that UYR regulates the transfer of players from one club to another.
The guiding principle regarding players joining member clubs is that of "Play Where You Live".
7th Graders and new players (Grades 8 and up) are required to join the club that has a team for their age; and
If a 7th Grader or a new player in Grades 8 and up desire to join a club that does not meet the above criteria, the player may request a waiver from UYR. The waiver process is as follows:
That club becomes their primary home club and remain with that club throughout school career no matter what team they were or will / may be eligible for in the future.
Transfer rules apply after joining primary home club.
