It was an exciting weekend for the Leopards.  The Varsity team had a home match against Westlake and the East 9/10 and 7/8 teams played in St George against Snow Canyon.  With a mix in results there is a lot to be proud of as we hit the midway point of the regular season.  The varsity team got off to a hot start.  The first score came from Pate Langi crashing to the weak side of the break down from 5 meters out.  Not Long after Fusi Teisina scored at the corner flag, running over anyone that got in his way.  The next score would come when Jadin Afuvai found a gap in the defensive line and would score from 65 meters out.  Pate Langi, Joseph Sime, and PJ Leaaetoa would finish up the scoring in the first half on a series of crash balls.  This was all made possible by an excellent team effort, players passing to the open man, players running straight and not playing selfish.  It was an outstanding first half of rugby for the Leopards.  The score at the half was 34 to 5 for East.

Westlake played tough and they didn’t back down.  They would score two try’s with conversions in the first 10 minutes of the second half making the score East 34 Westlake 19.  East would answer after great ball movement found PJ Leaaetoa on the outside edge to rumble in for his second score of the match.  Westlake would answer for their final score of the game.  With time winding down, East would get another score with the ball going out to Luani Vake at the Wing.  The final score would be East 44 Westlake 24.  It was a solid win for the Leopards at the midpoint of the season.  There are still some big rugby games coming up in the next couple of weeks in the latter part of April and there is still work to do as a team.
