It was a rivalry weekend in Sugar House Park as The East High Leopards faced the Highland High Rams.  Both games were action packed.  Highland jumped to a quick 10 to 0 lead.  10  minutes into the match East would regroup and through the strong play of the forward back, Sione Mafua would score first from the goal line.  Hene Tuamoheloa would connect on the conversion making the score 10 to 7 for Highland.  Highland would score one more time in the first half.  Before the first half finished East would score again Lorenzo Manu scooped up the loose ball deep in Highland territory.  The first half ended with a score East 12 Highland 15.  It was a very physical game and a great effort from both teams.

East would score first in the second half.  Highland turned the ball over deep in their own territory and East would maintain possession.  Johny Fredrick emerged from the pile and with his arm fully extended reaching out for the score.  It was a great effort by Fredrick giving the Leopards the lead 17 to 15.  Highland would score next and with the successful conversion extend the lead 22 to 17 over East.  On the kick off following the Highland score Hene Tuamoheloa put the kick high and deep in Highland territory.  The ball bounced away from a Highland player and Johny Fredrick with an outstanding chase from mid field gathered the ball and took it in for his second score of the day.  The conversion was missed and the game was tied 22 – 22 with about 10 minutes left.  Highland bounced back and scored with about 4 minutes left in the match.  East would make a charge and in the final moments of the game.  Going for the matching score, Sima Salt extend for the try and the ball was lost forward before contact was made on the ground.  The final whistle would follow and the final score was East 22 Highland 29.  It was a hard fought match by both sides and it was a good clean game.  Since the beginning of East High Rugby three years ago, East is 1-2-1 against Highland.

Later in the afternoon, the JV Team would square off against a Davis JV side.  This was a good opportunity for all of the East players to get a run in.  Scores would come from Tevita Mahe (2), Connor Allison (2), Carl Odom and PJ Leaaetoa.  The final in this match would be East 30 Davis 12.
