2 weeks ago East secured a spot in the playoffs with a win over Skyline.  East entered the 16 team tournament as the number 8 seed in one side of the bracket.  Their first game of the weekend was against number 1 seed Hunter.  Hunter was undefeated in the 2013 season winning the 2013 championship over Highland.  Going into the match they were also unbeaten in the 2014 season.  It would prove to be a tough test for East High Rugby

The first score for East came from a Preston Burnett run down of a Joe Tukuafu kick from mid field.  Preston was tackled as he touched the ball down.  The conversion was missed.  The next score came after a series of pick and jams, Joe Tukuafu picked the ball and dove in for the score.  Joe made the conversion kick.  The last score for East came in the final moments of the first half when Ula Tolutau took the ball from 15 meters out and barreled in for the score right underneath the posts.  The Tukuafu Kick was good.  Hunter scored 2 times in the first half missing both conversions.  The halftime score was East 19 Hunter 10.

The second half continued to be a battle back and forth between both sides.  East struck again when Osaiasi Tuifua crossed the goal line off of the edge of the ruck.  The Tukuafu kick missed.  Hunter rallied ad score two times in a row and continued to build momentum.  With about 5 minutes left in the game the score was East 24 Hunter 22.  East was able to regain possession of the ball with the clock ticking and as the ball was passed through the back line Ula Tolutau broke the line from 35 meters out for the final score of the match.  The Nate Asper conversion was good extending the lead to what would be the final score of East 31 Hunter 22.  The number 8 seed beat the Number one seed to advance to the Elite Eight.  East was to play the winner of Bountiful and Highland.  Highland advanced to the next round.
