This past Saturday the East High Rugby team faced the West High Rugby team.  Both teams entered the match with only conference losses, West 0-2 and East 0-1.  East kicked off to West to start the match.  Most of the game in the first half was played in East territory.  East played great team defense.  The first score came from West about 15 minutes into the game.  East would have their opportunity a few moments later on a West penalty.  Ula Toluta’u took the ball on a quick tap from about 10 meters out for the score.  The score would be tied 5-5.  With 2 minutes left in the half West scored again with a successful conversion ending the half West 12 East 5

The second half began and East put together some good phase play.  It was back and forth offensively between both sides and both teams played very tough defense.  East struck first in the second half.  Ula Toluta’u received the ball at the edge of the field and powered in for the score.  With the conversion missed the score was West 12 East 10.  East continued a positive momentum for the remainder of the half and had 3 different opportunities to score.  The pressure was on to get one more score to take the lead.  East came close but with 2 separate knock-on’s within scoring distance, the ball ended up in West’s hands.  With about 3 minutes left in the game West broke the line and went 50 meters for the score.  The final was West 17 – East 10.

Come watch East in their final home game this coming Saturday as they take on Highland High School.  The game will be at 1700 South Park across from raging waters with kickoff at 2:00.
